Skywatch Friday: Fleeing Raven

Kingbird Chasing Raven 6-6-09

While at the Fort Huachuca Duathlon last Saturday with my brother, Stephen, I watched birds as well. I saw this raven being chased by Western Kingbirds and snapped a shot.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more amazing skys.

It always seems amusing to see a small bird chasing a much larger one. I don't suppose the raven was too thrilled with the idea though.

I have to chuckle when I see smaller birds chasing the larger. Glad you got to see some birds at the race.

Very cool! I love to study pictures of birds in flight- it is just so amazing to me. I am coming back as a bird in my next life!

What a great shot - the birds are so clear against that beautiful sky, well done!

Small birds are a lot like small dogs when it comes to taking on bigger foes. small bird, big heart.

We see a lot of this, too. But it is usually mockingbirds doing the chasing here.

Kathie, nice shot! I love flight shots. The raven is really cool...I like the position of his wings...his beak looks like he is cawing...great capture...

He looks like he's at "jet speed" to get away from his little harrasser! LOL! Cute photo!

It always makes me smile when I see small birds harassing crows and hawks, you have to admire their audacity and courage.
