I stood there silent in the night
And watched the lightening dance
On distant peaks with silent bolts
It flashed their silhouettes to me.
I heard an owl’s haunting cry
I heard coyotes howl "why"?
The desert fragrance filled the air,
the eaves still dripping slow and soft,
Beneath my feet the pavement cool
And firm
held me,
Where I stood silent in the night
And watched the lightening dance.
