Skywatch Friday: October Sky in Madera Canyon

October sky on the Proctor Trail in Madera Canyon 10-7-09

As T. R. Ryan and I walked along the Proctor Trail looking for birds last Tuesday we happened to look overhead and see this marvelous sight. I love the contrast in colors, the orange fruit glowing against that bright blue sky. Almost makes me wish I were a bird! Yum!

Thanks Troy from Ramblings Around Texas for identifying
this tree as Western Soapberry.

Love the color of the soapberry against the brilliant blue sky.

Oh, yes, the blue is so dense in saturation. I love sprigs against a sky like that. And the shape of each "berry" is nature at its best!

Those are compliments. The colors I mean. Nice shot.

Very pretty! I don't associate fall color with Arizona, so this is interesteing :-)

I can see why the birds would see these! So brilliant!

It's a soapberry Kathie - it was labeled - of course I know because I was looking at the ground and you don't know 'cause you got the shot and I didn't! I guess it just means we make a good team. That moment was divine, indeed.

Wonderful, Kathie. Your photo captures the sky and frames the berries, bringing out the best in both.

Kathie, Ces is my little soul-sister, as are you although you may not realize it.

Arija, I went to Ces' blog to check out the award and read her tribute to you. How very sweet it is. I have visited there before, but not in a long time. I thank you for considering me in such a special way!

Such a blue October sky! My husband is off today after working 7 days a week for 3 weeks, we are trying to think of somewhere to go nearby to photograph our October sky:)
