Skywatch Friday: Waiting Dawn

Sunrise in Sycamore Canyon 10-6-o9

It is Tuesday morning and I am up early, anxious with anticipation. TR Ryan of From the Faraway, Nearby will arrive sometime today! I step outside to enjoy a few minutes of solitude before the day's activities begin. My early rising is well rewarded as I watch the tattered clouds turn to golden fleece in the east...

...while to the north the lights of Tucson still glow in the dim light of dawn...

...and off in the west the full moon sets as a mysterious pearl shrouded in filmy flimsy clouds.

I love the first, glowing photo as well. By now you're probably out bird watching with Tim, and I hope you're both having a wonderful time.

Give Tim a second hug and take lots of photos.

Little did you know as you marveled at that sunset that I would be dragging you to every wing flutter in three counties! I had the best time with you! You are such a phenomenal birder - I am just in awe and so proud to call you Friend, as well. Thank you for spending so much time with me.

I learned a lot from the Master of Arizona Birding - I counted 18 species on my own today - including the Ruddy Ground Dove! I have to go now - I have enlarged pictures of Costa and Anna hummers all over the wall - still trying to sort them out. Thanks for the violet crown yesterday!!

I miss you already!

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by. It's so good to see you all, Lynn, Wren, Arija, Gaelyn, TR, Bernie, Bobbie, and fourwindsphotojournal, my familiar friends, as well as msdewberry and kcalpesh. A hearty welcome to my blog!

TR has already moved on, so I cannot hug him for anyone right now, but I hugged him lots while he was here. We ended up birding for 4 straight days and now he is on his way home. I'm sure you will see photos on both of our blogs. I plan on doing a MY World Tuesday post about it for tomorrow.

Thank you all for stopping by. I am on my way to see you now! I have so much to catch up on! I miss you my blogging buddies!

Kathie, I love you right back, even if I can no longer fly over and have you show me those little birds braving cactus spikes for a safe nest site, I know that somewhere through middle earth we are connected and kindred spirits.

You my dear deserve the award much more than I do.

Reporting in with a 5 lifer day here at Portal!

Let me just say - OH MY GOD - this is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in the world!!!! It was like passing thru some "portal" in time and I have just been floating among these vermillion and yellow cliffs among the strange sycamores and maples and pines and cactus and mesquite and acacia. It's like the slick rock canyons of Utah mixed with Africa and Guatemala. I am in love. I want to live here someday.

Arija, you are a sweet thing and I thank you once again!

TR, so glad you loved Portal. It is aptly named and a magical place! I can't wait to see your post and pictures and you will have to send me your total lifers or post it on your wall, which I intend to visit tomorrow! On my own I counted that you saw at least 30 new species while with me! Hooray! BTW, just posted a new poem and picture on Kathies Poet Tree!
