I cannot believe a copper mine is being contemplated for this gorgeous place. I'm off to their website - hope there's a petition to sign. Your photos are wonderful - may you be able to take a similar shot 20 years from now.
How sad to think of a copper mine going into that beautiful view!
That is terrible!!! I'm with TSannie! I'm going to their website, too! Such an incredibly beautiful, peaceful place! I love your photos! You've really captured the mountains so beautifully. Have a great weekend, Kathie!

What exquisitly lovely phots! thanks for sharing the beauty with us!
No! I really hope the mine doesn't happen, that's just disgusting. I love the Santa Ritas, such a beautiful spot. Your pictures are great, keeping my fingers cross and yes, signing petitions, etc...they don't ruin it!
This picture will be a keeper in case that mining will open its business soon. I just do hope it will not. ^_^

OH, NO!!!! They just can't destroy that beautiful habitat. I am seeing the same thing happening in Nova Scotia with new gold mines. It's devastating. But no one seems to be able to stop it. Good Luck!! ~ks
How awful that such a pristine landscape would be sacraficed for yet another extraction. Why do people want to rape the earth other than for financial greed. Do we need more copper?
A copper mine?! What on earth are they thinking????
These photos are stunning.
I've been in Arizona 13 years and I learned right off the bat that the mine was coming. It's really old news, kinda odd how people don't jump on the band wagon until it's already burning. But yes, we do need all that copper. It's in your computer dudes, in your Ipod, Blackberry, Nintendo, ANY BATTERY! How about the Prius? Hundreds of pounds of copper in order the save gas and slow emissions. Yeah, we need copper.
By the way....we can mine it here (keeping the jobs, regulations and the money here too) or we can pay other countries (often 3rd world with awful mining records) and make the world an even worse place to live by adding more to the carbon footprint than need be.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Pick the lesser evil.
