Skywatch Friday: Storm Clouds Over the Santa Ritas

This photo of storm clouds over the Santa Ritas was taken by Kathie on Monday, August 25 as I returned home from my IBA survey in Sabino Canyon. The clouds are from the remnants of Tropical Storm Julio which rolled up from the Sea of Cortez and the Baja Peninsula to deluge us with rain for the last 3 days. To read about what I saw as I drove home go to The Rain, The Birds and the Horse Lubber. To view more Skywatch Friday photos click on the button below.

They may be storm clouds, but they look soft and wonderful. I love the blue mountains below them.

The tints and shades and contrast of this photo has great potential to recreate on canvas. Very soft and beautiful. Lovely.

I love the layers in this photograph. Almost like one of those sand things. (I hate it when I can't think of a word! Ha!!)

Now that is a truly beautiful shot!
Not just for the sky, but a stand alone shot of a beautiful landscape. I'm glad I had the chance to see this.

Wow. I don't know what else to say other than "WOW." I always love your photos, but this may be my favorite one yet. I can't believe how much richness and texture you've caught in this image. Who ever said the desert was bland or monochrome?

It looks like the countryside loved the rain. Beautiful.

I never thought I'd like the desert until spending a week at my brother's in Scottsdale.
I want to ask you - would you allow me to use your picture of Sabino Canyon for a painting? Your photography is beautiful (I've always been pretty terrible) and I love the colors.
