This photo of storm clouds over the Santa Ritas was taken by Kathie on Monday, August 25 as I returned home from my IBA survey in Sabino Canyon. The clouds are from the remnants of Tropical Storm Julio which rolled up from the Sea of Cortez and the Baja Peninsula to deluge us with rain for the last 3 days. To read about what I saw as I drove home go to The Rain, The Birds and the Horse Lubber. To view more Skywatch Friday photos click on the button below.

What lovely subtle colors, looks like a watercolor painting. You certainly do live in beautiful country!
Beautiful countryside, beautiful photo.
Well balanced landscape shot! Bravo! Like it a lot!
Cheers, Klaus
This is a magnificent shot. The clouds add so much.
My SkyWatch post today > Canon Pixels
Wow, you out did yourself lady. I could sit in this place for hours. Thanks for the treat.
Kathie: What a beautiful panorama of the wonderful scene.
They may be storm clouds, but they look soft and wonderful. I love the blue mountains below them.
Such a beautiful forebodding sight.
Wonderful shot! Congrats.
The tints and shades and contrast of this photo has great potential to recreate on canvas. Very soft and beautiful. Lovely.
The way of fortune is like the milkyway in the sky.... Wonderful capture for skywatch! Mine's up too hope you can drop by, asking for your vote too... thanks a lot! Happy weekend
Magnificent shot! Mountains make it perfect.
Lovely composition, Kathie.
Have a good weekend!
It's a beautiful area of our Country and I intend to see it up close and personal one day soon. Pappy
Absolutely beautiful scene! I love the scope of it as well as the colors and clouds. Excellent SWF post!
The mountains are beautiful. I love traveling from one part of the world to another on Sky Watch.
I love the layers in this photograph. Almost like one of those sand things. (I hate it when I can't think of a word! Ha!!)
Now that is a truly beautiful shot!
Not just for the sky, but a stand alone shot of a beautiful landscape. I'm glad I had the chance to see this.
The colors are so different from what I see here which is why it is a treat to have someone share the photos...
Great skywatch photo, love the golden foreground too:)
Gorgeouos photo of some incredible scenery. I shall look forward to reading your other posts. Have a great week.
Wow. I don't know what else to say other than "WOW." I always love your photos, but this may be my favorite one yet. I can't believe how much richness and texture you've caught in this image. Who ever said the desert was bland or monochrome?
It looks like the countryside loved the rain. Beautiful.
I never thought I'd like the desert until spending a week at my brother's in Scottsdale.
I want to ask you - would you allow me to use your picture of Sabino Canyon for a painting? Your photography is beautiful (I've always been pretty terrible) and I love the colors.
